Voter Registration Deadline Approaching

The last day to register to vote in the upcoming Presidential Preference Primary is Monday, February 6, 2012.

The Presidential Preference Primary in Georgia will take place on 'Super Tuesday" March 6, 2012.  Voters will be required to choose either a Republican or Democrat ballot style.

Currently, nine names are listed on the Republican ballot.  Although several of the candidates listed on the Republican ballot have expressed thier desire no longer to run, they have not gone through the formal withdrawal process therefore their names will appear on the Republican ballot.

Voters who choose the Democrat ballot have one name listed.

Early Voting will begin Monday, February 13, 2012 and end Friday March 2, 2012.  Voters may cast a ballot between the hours of 8:30 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday in room 104 of the Baldwin County courthouse.  Photo Identification is required.

All non-emergency departments are closed on January 2 in observance of New Year's.


Georgia College Celebrates Constitution Week


In celebration of the U.S. Constitution’s 224th anniversary, Georgia College will honor the basic law of the United States.

That's according to a Georgia College news release.

Gary. J. Simson, dean of Mercer University School of Law, will provide the keynote address at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, in the Student Activities Center Magnolia Ballroom.

Simson joined the faculty of Mercer University School of Law in 2010. He earned a bachelor of arts degree summa cum laude in 1971 from Yale College and his J.D. at Yale Law School in 1974. He began his teaching career at the University of Texas School of Law in 1975 and subsequently held positions at Cornell Law School and Case Western Reserve University School of Law before coming to Mercer.

Time to Update Your Voting Status

 Baldwin County and City of Milledgeville voters: now is the time to update your voting status prior to the elections in 2012.  A Voter Registration application may be used to register to vote or update voter records (name change, address change). 

Be Sure to Vote in the Georgia License Plate Contest

Voting reopened today for the Georgia License Plate design contest.

You can vote for one of the eight designs.

Voting ends August 8, 2011 at 3 p.m.

The winning license plate was to be announced Friday, July 15, but there was confusion surrounding the "in God we trust" label on some of the designs.
