K12 Flat Travelers Visit Milledgeville

K12 Flat Travelers visit Milledgeville this week.

Seven in all visiting from Oklahoma, Louisiana, Utah and Massachusetts.

They started by attending the Fourth of July Fireworks show at Hatcher Square Mall. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed all of the festivities. The fireworks were spectacular.

Second they stopped by Mary Vinson Memorial Library, where they met Mrs. Anne Moore, Youth Services Coordinator. They learned all about the awesome summer reading program the library offers. Then their host George gave then a tour of the library. They wee quite surprised by it's size, but pleased with the hospitality shown by the staff.

The K12 Flat Travelers attended K12 Summer Online Fun where they learned how to weave in art, the body and bone names in science, multiplying in math and our favorite was history where we learned all about geography and Johannes Gutenberg. Did you know Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing press and the first book he printed was the Gutenberg Bible? We learn so much in our school. K12 makes learning fun.

Later this week they will visit The Oconee Greenway and learn all about water safety and hike the trails, taking in Milledgevilles rich beauty and nature.

Flat Travelers are based on the book Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown. A great summer read for children of all ages. Flat Travelers covers most learning areas and teaches children and adults both so much. It improves social skills, multicultural, geography, art math, writing and so much more.

We cannot wait for our next adventure. Do you know of a place of interest in Milledgeville our Flat Travelers should visit? If so, feel free to e-mail me at peachereader@yahoo.com or comment on this post.

Keep your eyes on the lookout, you just might see us in a place near you!
