Volunteering to Honor MLK Jr.

WHEN:                   Monday, January 17, 2011

 

WHAT:                   Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. dedicated his life to the service of others.  In honor of his legacy, Georgia Power employees will use Monday, January 17, a company holiday, for volunteer service and community enhancement.

Employees in the Central Region will commemorate the day by volunteering with local community organizations.

WHERE:            Plant Branch/Milledgeville

Community Garden – Volunteers will assist with planting, getting soil ready and spreading pine straw.

Harrisburg Recreational Center – Volunteers will do general cleaning, landscaping and paint picnic tables.

Creekside Elementary School – Volunteers will redo the playground, spread sand and other duties.


Georgia Power’s commitment to volunteer service on the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday is a statewide effort.  In addition to volunteers in the Central Region, employees are working with civic groups to help beautify neighborhoods and support community programs around the state.
