Deep Roots Festival Set for Saturday

The Deep Roots Festival makes its return this year on October 22.

Get ready for live music, a BBQ cook-off, arts, crafts and more.

The music has been announced:

  • The Whigs, an American rock and roll band from Athens, Ga.
  • Reptar (not the dinosaur from Rugrats!), an electro-pop group also from Athens
  • Cowboy, a band from Macon, Ga. who recently reunited after thirty years
  • Trout Fishing in America, four-time Grammy Nominees who are best known for family music and children's songs from Arkansas
  • Davin McCoy and The Coming Attraction, who came together as a band in the Atlanta area.
  • Free Lance Ruckus, a self-proclaimed, multi-genred band hailing from Haddock, Ga.

The Deep Roots Festival will host a sanctioned Memphis Barbeque Association BBQ contest beginning Friday, Oct. 21.

Distilling Company Announces Products

Georgia Distilling Company is set to announce their two new products in an Atlanta news conference Tuesday.

This comes after the company recently claimed its home on Blandy Way in Milledgeville.

The new products are called "Goodtime Moonshine": one is vodka, one is moonshine.

According to a news release, country musician Colt Ford will be promoting Goodtime Moonshine in albums and on tour.

Ford is from Athens, Ga.

Allied Arts  to provide yard sale space in Black Heritage Plaza during Deep Roots Festival

Allied Arts is providing space for a community wide yard sale on Saturday, October 22 from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm in the Black Heritage Plaza, 101 West McIntosh Street in Milledgeville.  Individuals and organizations are invited to reserve space for $20.00. Allied Arts will provide each vendor with tables and chairs. Restrooms and electricity will be available.

Trio Brings Old Time Music to Allen's Market

Allied Arts and the Milledgeville Music Club will sponsor a concert of old time music at the Allen's Market Building on Friday, November 4 at 7:30 pm. Art Rosenbaum will be joined by musicians Beverly Smith and John Grimm for an evening of old-time songs by the string band in an intimate setting.
