March First Friday: 'I'rish I Was Downtown'

Milledgeville's second First Friday is scheduled for Friday, March 4 with the theme: “I’rish I was
downtown.”

The First Fridays Committee, has planned a First Friday Art Walk planned, a Digital Bridges news release says.

The focus of First Fridays is to celebrate the diversity of art in Milledgeville: painting, drawing, ceramics, music, theatre,
photography, literature, culinary and so much more. Roughly 40 downtown merchants will be
participating by inviting artists to display their talents in their businesses.

Animal Rescue Holds Auction

Animal Rescue Foundation's (ARF) 2011 Annual Auction will be held Saturday, March 5.

The event will be held at the Milledgeville Country Club starting at 5:30 p.m.

The Silent & Live Auctions will include heavy hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar.

Tickets are $35 at the door.

Downtown Annnounces March First Friday Theme

The theme for this First Friday event is “I’rish I was Downtown”, playing off of St. Patrick’s Day.

That is according to a Milledgeville Main Street/Downtown Development Authority news release.

Participating merchants will be competing in a window decorating contest based on the theme and will be judged for creativity, originality, impact and integration of the Irish theme.

Several restaurants will be offering green drink specials and Fields Photography and Framing will have St. Patrick’s Day props for the photo booth.

Class: 9 Tips to Improve Writing in Small Spaces

A webinar called Nine Tips to Improve Your Small-Space Writing will take place at Digital Bridges on Tuesday, February 22.

The class is designed to help people write concisely in e-mail and social media outlets.

The class is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Digital Bridges Conference Room.

Georgia College Presents '1940s Radio Hour'

Georgia College Theatre Department is swinging in preparation for this year's spring musical, "The 1940s Radio Hour."

The audience will be taken back to December of 1942 during World War II for the final holiday broadcast of a New York radio station.

Attendees are encouraged to dance and sing along as they time travel back to the 1940s.

The song line-up includes tunes such as "Old Black Magic," "Blue Moon" and "Kalamazoo."

The performance will take place from February 23 through February 27 at 8 p.m. and on Sunday at 2 p.m.

General admission is $15; seniors, Georgia College faculty staff and alumni are $9 and Georgia College student tickets are $7.
