How to Write for 13WMAZ's Where You Live

Where You Live is WMAZ's hyperlocal feature. This means that we are helping bring you more community-specific news more often.

These community websites are a place for you and your community members to share information.

To join our team and share with folks just like yourself, all you have to do is email us your email address and name whereyoulive@13wmaz.com

From there, we set up an account for you. This account lets you log in to your community site and post photo galleries, concerts, community events, 100th birthday parties, your concerns, latest creative projects, how-to advice and anything else you want people in your area to know.

Once you have an account, here are some examples of how you can stay involved Where You Live:

  • Where You Live is your space for public conversation.  Feel free to comment on others' articles. New ideas can crop up just from simple conversations with others.
  • See something bizarre around town? Take a (cell phone) photo and post it to your community site! Maybe someone else will know the background story.
  • Add an event to our community calendar. Click "Add an Event"  on your community site's event section.

Milledgeville Named Runnerup for 'South's Most Creative Small Towns'

The magazine Garden & Gun highlighted 'The South's Most Creative Small Towns.'

Earning the Runnerup spot, Milledgeville received a nod for Flannery O'Connor's life there, "forever assur[ing] its place on the Southern literary map."

The magazine mentions Andalusia and how it's still open to the public and Georgia College's literary journal, Art & Letters.

Garden & Gun named Hillsborough, North Carolina as the Best Literary Town for having "more critically acclaimed authors per capita than any zip code in the region."

First 'Taste of Milledgeville' Event Debuts on First Friday

First 'Taste of Milledgeville' Event Debuts on First Friday

 

Milledgeville, GA- Milledgeville Main Street will host the very first ‘Taste of Milledgeville’ during the September First Friday event on Friday, September 7th. ‘Taste of Milledgeville’ will offer food samples from many different restaurants in Baldwin County, giving Taste attendees a wide variety of samples to choose from. So, food lovers be sure to arrive with an empty stomach!

‘Taste of Milledgeville’ will be a fundraiser for the Milledgeville Main Street Program and the First Friday Committee. Main Street is a nonprofit organization that was created for the preservation and enhancement of our City’s Center. Each taste will cost one ticket. Tickets for the event will be $1 each and Taste attendees can purchase as many or as few tickets as they would like. There will also be live entertainment and activities for kids during the event.
