Georgia Military College announces an upcoming campus groundbreaking for a $17M Health and Wellness Center.
According to a Georgia Military College news release, that groundbreaking happens during the school's Alumni Weekend on Oct. 20 at 5:30 p.m. Everyone is invited.
The groundbreaking also kicks off a public fundraising campaign, with a goal of hitting $3M in donations to help fund the project.
Once built, the new Health and Wellness Center will replace the current gym in the Cordell Events Center that was built in 1964. The Cordell building was built to serve under 500 males. Now, the school has outgrown the space now that the school has about 2,000 male and female students.
The new gym will allow for a better locker space for women and changing and shower facilities for men and opposing teams as well as winter intramural sports.
