Milledgeville Police Request Donations for Annual Gift Drive

The Milledgeville Police Department is asking for support in funding their annual Holiday Gift Drive for Kids.

The Holiday Gift Drive for Kids is a non-profit organization funded solely by donations.

The MPD's goal is to take 100 children to Wal-Mart to shop for the holiday. The program is for children who live in Baldwin County who are between ages 0-16.

Next Meeting for Survivors of Suicide Support Group

Next Meetings for the Survivors of Suicide Support Group:

Monday, September 26 from 6-7:30 p.m.

Monday, October 25 from 6-7:30 p.m.

The group is an opportunity for people who have lost a loved one by suicide to connect with other survivors in a safe place and healing environment. This service is offered at no charge.

You can attend the meetings at River Edge Behavioral Center on Blandy Way in Milledgeville.

Taste Downtown on First Friday

September’s First Friday theme is ‘Taste of Downtown’.

Downtown restaurants will have tables setup outside with free samples from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

You can expect mouthwatering tastes of sushi, sliders, wings, dips and desserts.

Music entertainment will feature Milledgeville Idols; both past and present, along with The Georgia Guitar Duo.

The Idols set up on South Wayne Street in front of Capital City.

The Milledgeville Idols who are set to perform include the recent 2011 winner Isaiah Brown, 2010 winner, Jon Peeler, and the 2009 winner, Laurie Larson Meeks. The Georgia Guitar Duo will be playing a mix of music from Jazz, to modern rock, to classic rock.

The Duo performs under the Belk awning located on West Hancock Street. They have played several times at Jackson’s on Lake Sinclair and also at the Oconee River Greenway.

Dine out to help raise money for Baldwin Kids

To help Communities in Schools support kids in Baldwin County, you can head out to lunch or dinner at one of the following restaurants: Metropolis Cafe, Captain D's, The Velvet, Buff, Quizno's and Aubri Lanes.

These restaurants have agreed to give a percentage of their sales to Communities in Schools for the day, Wednesday, August 17.

Student Apartments Hosts Business After Hours

August Business After Hours offers a networking opportunity in a relaxed environment at the Bellamy Student Apartments.

The event is set for August 18 from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m.

Members attend for $7 and non-members attend for $10.
