GMC Awarded Military Friendly Schools Designation

The 2014 Military Friendly Schools® list honors the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools in the country that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members, veterans, and spouses as students and ensure their success on campus.

Taste of Milledgeville Winner Announced

Milledgeville, GA- Milledgeville Main Street and the First Friday Committee hosted the second annual Taste of Milledgeville, Friday, September 6th. Taste of Milledgeville was home to a variety of restaurants throughout Milledgeville that offered a number of different food samples for Taste attendees to enjoy.

Before the event kicked off, hungry Taste attendees came early to purchase tickets and by the time the event started at 6:00pm the downtown sidewalks were full of people ready to enjoy the yummy samples provided. More than 2500 tickets were sold during Taste of Milledgeville making its second year a success.

GMC Student Wins Precision Class Competition

GMC Student Wins Precision Class Competition

During the 2013 Civilian Marksmanship Program Three-Position Junior Air Rifle Camp in Anniston, Ala., Jenna Bethea won the precision class competition with an aggregate score of 686.8.  She ranked first out of 170 competitors in the precision class dispersed over the following five camps:  Anniston, Ala.; Camp Perry, Ohio; Colorado Springs, Col.; Phoenix, Ariz. and Albuquerque, N.M.

The 3x20 individual competitions involve shooting in 3 positions:  prone, kneeling and standing with 20 shots fired in each position.  The highest possible score per shot is 10.9, and Jenna held the top spot by scoring a 10.3 or higher with 39 center shots. 

The top eight precision competitors stood side-by-side on the firing line for 10 shots.  It was very intense in the finals, but Jenna remained laser-focused and displayed mental toughness to earn the win.

Georgia Military College to Hold Super Wednesday

On Wednesday, September 4, 2013, Georgia Military College will welcome the newest members of the 135th Corps of Cadets, during the annual event called Super Wednesday.  The first-time junior college cadets will begin processing in the mini-gym of Cordell Events Center where they will be introduced to representatives of Admissions, Military Science, and Academic Support.

While in the mini-gym, the Office of Student Activities, which coordinates and sponsors the event, will showcase campus offerings to include intramural activities, special events, and various campus organizations and clubs.  Local banking institutions, businesses and organizations, to include faith-based groups will be represented in Cordell Events Center to welcome the families to the area and offer handouts, gifts, invitations, and information about their services.
