3 p.m. 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony on Front Campus of Georgia College-  4 individuals lost their lives from GA that we will honor

9 p.m. Candlelight Vigil for the victims and families on Front Campus of GC (92 luminaries that represent the number of countries that lost someone in 9/11)

Monday, September 12--

10:00am a Moment of Silence at the Bobcat Head on front campus of GC (We are trying to get that at other places around the community.)

10:00am-2:00pm Tribute Projects (Small passive service projects) honoring the victims on campus at GC

Central State Hospital Honors Employees of 20 years or more


Central State Hospital will be honoring 63 employees who have contributed more than 20 years of service, during its annual Faithful Service Ceremony on Wednesday August 31, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of All Faiths.

The ceremony, sponsored by the Central State Hospital Foundation, will celebrate and honor employees with 20, 25, 30, and 34 years of service to the hospital and the state of Georgia. This year’s ceremony will not only feature musical entertainment but also special guest speaker, Rhian Sharp, Director of Human Resources, for the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities.

Ga. DOT Welcomes Public Comment on Improvement Program


The Georgia Department of Transportation (GA DOT) will be presenting the Draft FY 2012 - 2015 Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) for public review and comment. 

The STIP is a four-year program that specifies federally funded transportation projects for non-urban communities in rural Georgia for Fiscal Years 2012, 2013 2014 and 2015.  These projects include, but are not limited to, new construction, improvements, and maintenance for interstates and state routes, and bridges.  Additional projects include bicycle and pedestrian projects, transportation enhancement projects and public transit projects.

Be Sure to Vote in the Georgia License Plate Contest

Voting reopened today for the Georgia License Plate design contest.

You can vote for one of the eight designs.

Voting ends August 8, 2011 at 3 p.m.

The winning license plate was to be announced Friday, July 15, but there was confusion surrounding the "in God we trust" label on some of the designs.
