Milledgeville Officials Celebrate Georgia Cities Week

Milledgeville Officials Celebrate Georgia Cities Week

 

Milledgeville officials announced the city will be celebrating “Georgia Cities Week” April 20-27, 2013. The city will be holding a few events throughout the week, including a clean-up day, a photo contest, and trivia! The theme of this year’s Georgia Cities Week is “Where the Action is,” showcasing how cities, through the services they provide and the quality of life they create, transform lives and business.

Milledgeville Mayor, Richard Bentley, is in support of the Georgia Cities Week celebration. “We’re very proud of our city and the services we provide that make it attractive to residents and visitors,” said Bentley. “Cities provide the infrastructure for growing businesses, quality of life for individuals and families and are a gathering spot for people throughout the region.”

I don't know if Flannery O'Connor ever had a duck named "Donald," but she kept a small flock of them and, following in her seamstress mother's footsteps, even made clothes for them. 

Yes, Flannery was a rare - some might say odd - bird, indeed!  In a home economics class she was taking at Peabody High School, the students were assigned a sewing project.  While most of her classmates went to work right away designing aprons and the like, Flannery procrastinated.
