Baldwin County's June unemployment rate is 15.5 percent, according to a Georgia Department of Labor news release.

The lowest area rate, at 8.0 percent, was recorded in Warner Robins, while the highest, at 12.8 percent, was in the Heart of Georgia-Altamaha area near Dublin.

Georgia’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose to 9.9 percent in June, up one-tenth of a percentage point from a revised 9.8 percent in May. The state’s jobless rate was 10 percent in June a year ago.

June marked the 47th consecutive month Georgia has exceeded the national unemployment rate, which is currently 9.2 percent, up from 9.1 percent in May.

License Plate Revote Opens Monday

ATLANTA (AP) -- The public is again invited to weigh in on Georgia's new license plate design.

Online voting will reopen at 3 p.m. Monday.

Gov. Nathan Deal had planned to announce the winner of an earlier design contest last Friday, but the state scrapped its plans over public confusion on whether the motto "In God We Trust" would be on the plate.

Confusion Delays New License Plate Announcement

ATLANTA (AP) -- Gov. Nathan Deal has delayed selecting a new Georgia license plate due to confusion over whether the motto "In God We Trust" would be on the winning design.
Deal had been set to take the wraps off the new Georgia plate at the state Capitol Friday.
More than 500 design entries were submitted by the public. A panel of Georgia college and university art professors narrowed the selection to eight. An online public vote chose the final three designs.
But some of the designs presented online contained the motto "In God We Trust" while others did not.
The motto is actually an optional sticker that may be purchased for an additional dollar at county tag offices.
Deal said online voting will reopen Monday to choose the winning plate.

Georgia License Plate Winner to be Named

Three finalists have been named in the license plate design contest.

Governor Nathan Deal, Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle and State Revenue Commissioner Douglas MacGinnitie announce the winner Friday, July 15.
