Funeral services for Mrs. Clarice H. Stephens, 77, of Cochran who died Saturday, August 13, 2011 at her residence after a 6 ½ year battle with ovarian cancer will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday in Cochran First Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Brooks and Rev. Jay Turner officiating. Burial will be in Pulaski-Bleckley Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Stephens was born in Laurens County, the daughter of the late Thomas and Narah Fountain Harbin. She was the widow of Louis W. “Bunky” Stephens. She had lived in Bleckley County since 1954. She was a graduate of Dublin City School, Middle Georgia College and Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville. She taught school for 30 years in the Bleckley County School system, was a member and past president of the Retired Educators Association, member of Alpha Delta Kappa since 1974, member of Cochran Women’s Club, Cochran Better Hometown and the Cochran-Bleckley Library Board. She was a member of Cochran First Baptist Church, member of the choir and member and teacher of the Lucille Wilson Sunday School Class.
Survivors include two daughters, Gayle (Raymond) Sapp of Danville and Lynn (Scott) Keller of Rochester, MN; two sons, Chris Stephens of Cochran and Bill (Michele) Stephens of Statesboro; grandchildren, Raymond Sapp III, Stephanie Sapp and Kara R. Stephens; sister-in-law, Virginia Smith of Cochran.

The family may be contacted at the residence on Rose Street and will meet friends at the funeral home from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. on Monday night.
