Man Gets Life Sentence for Killing Ex-Girlfriend

A Milledgeville man was sentenced to life in prison Monday for killing his ex-girlfriend last year.

Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit District Attorney Fred Bright says Alonzo Roberson plead guilty Monday to malice murder in the killing 25-year-old Jaquanna
Freeman.

She was found shot dead on March 8, 2010 at 130 Pennington Road.
That's off Highway 112, the Vinson Highway.

Roberson, age 33, was arrested later that month in Atlanta.

Bright said Roberson had threatened Freeman. He also said that, when Roberson was arrested, the murder weapon was found on the bed he was sleeping in.

He said Roberson was also convicted of theft by taking in connection with the stolen handgun and got a 10-year-sentence, to be served at the same time as the life sentence.
