About 130 Still Without Power in Central Ga. | News
About 130 people in central Georgia are still without power as of 9 a.m. Wednesday, Georgia Power reported.
The bulk of those -- 110 -- are in Macon. Another 10 are in Milledgeville with "several scattered elsewhere."
Tri-County EMC has restored service to all its members in Baldwin, Bibb, Jones, Putnam, Twiggs and Wilkinson counties.
As of 11 a.m. Wednesday, Flint Energies reported nine of its central Georgia customers are without power.
"At the height of the storm there was 23,000 without electricity," says Georgia Power's Teresa Robinson told 13WMAZ.
Tuesday, Bibb County School District said it was unable to pick up some students this morning because storm damage made roads impassable.
A news release says buses were unable to get to bus stops on Price Road, North Atwood Drive and Marjane Drive.
EMA Director Donald Druitt says northwest and southeast areas of Bibb County were hit hardest by last night's severe storms, with many downed trees and power lines.
The Red Cross has been working with people displaced by the storm, Druitt says. He knew of no injuries related to the storm.
Georgia Power previously said it could be later Wednesday before power is restored completely to the Milledgeville area. That's because crews have to work at each of those separate incidents, which takes time.
Power outages in Wilkinson County were reported by the sheriff's office. The city of Ivey is served by Oconee EMC.
Baldwin Co. Chief Troy Reynolds said trees blocked roads at Lake Laurel Road and Brown's Crossing Road.
Crews worked at Hodges Lake Road to clear a tree and downed power lines so a resident can go to the hospital.
In Milledgeville, a "huge" tree blocked Allenwood Road at Maplewood Road.
No injuries or fatalities were reported in Baldwin County.
A caller in Dooly County called to report very strong winds and golf ball-sized along River Road.
Houston County EMA director Jimmy Williams says no major damage: "four or five" trees down. Some traffic lights were out.
An 80-foot pine tree fell on a house and garage of a viewer in Warner Robins on Sandy Run Road in the County Wood Estates subdivision.
Crawford County sheriff's office dispatcher reported widespread power outages and some trees are down immediately after the storm hit. Power was lost around Magnolia Road, Cummings Road and Pottery Road.
A pine tree blocked Lime Stone Road in Bleckley County.
