The Cat and the Hat came to life Saturday at the Milledgeville Mall where the city hosted its first Literacy Fair.
The Milledgeville-Baldwin Chamber of Commerce and the Partners for Progress kicked off the four hour event with free books, games, and performances from local schools.
More than 30 booths were set up in the middle of the Milledgeville Mall to inform the community about literacy.
Activities ranging from book fishing, to creating bookmarks, the family fun event was a chance to showcase resources within the community.
"This is a dictionary we give every third grader in Baldwin county, this last week at both the public and the private schools. This is an annual project that rotary does," says Renee Fontenot of the Rotary Club.
