GMC High School Team Headed to Elite Eight | News
This week the Georgia Military girl's high school softball team is in Columbus trying to earn a State Championship.
Wednesday morning the Bulldogs hit the road complete with a police escort out of town.
The school also assembled goodie bags that included hand warmers, chips and pictures for the girls. Parents and the band lined the sidewalk to bid the girls goodbye and take pictures.
This year's team has gone 19-9 ... And they did it without any seniors on the squad and only two juniors.
The Bulldogs will enter the competition as the fourth seed and they think the support at home in Milledgeville will make a difference.
"We were so excited for that like all of the people were standing around watching us leave and we were getting all this attention, said Sutton Long.
Head Coach Julie Brooker says chemistry is really one of the big things for this team's success. She says all of her players get along and really enjoy one another's company.
GMC's first game in Columbus is against Schley County tomorrow at eleven am.
