Georgia Power has announced it's moving to close all ash ponds associated with its power generation across Georgia.

There are two ash ponds at Plant Scherer in Juliette and Plant Branch at Lake Sinclaire in Milledgeville.

According to a news release, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce has decided to support this decision.

"Georgia Power has a long and distinguised history of delivering high quality, safe and reliable and affordable energy supplies to businesses, industries and communities across the state and this decision exemplifies that tradition, Chris Clark, the CEO and president of the Georgia Chamber, said in a statement.
