Korean War veterans honored in Milledgeville | News
Korea is often called 'the Forgotten War,' but for a group of veterans in Milledgeville and the South Korean government, the war is far from forgotten.
The Deputy Consul General of the Republic of Korea visited the Georgia War Veterans Home Tuesday to thank the veterans for all they did for her nation.
In appreciation, she presented them with a book called 'Korea Reborn.'
For some of the veterans, it was an emotional moment.
Dan Holtz with the Georgia Department of Veterans Services said, "I saw several of the veterans with tears in their eyes. I know it brought back memories. Hopefully they are pleasant memories, but certainly there are memories of their service."
"They fought for a country they didn't know, so their sacrifice was really important for Koreans today," said Bok-ryeol Rhyou, Deputy Consul General of the Republic of Korea.
Any Korean War veteran can receive a copy of that commemorative book while supplies last. For further information, contact the Georgia Department of Veterans Services.
