Milledgeville Memorial Day Tribute | News
It was an emotional occasion as Veterans, friends and loved ones gathered at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville in tribute to those who served.
The ceremony included students from Georgia Military College presenting the flags and retired Lieutenant Colonel Shelors as the speaker.
The day was about not only remembering those who served and did not make it home, but those who did make it home reflecting on their memories made in the service.
"Actually my war days was down in Guantanamo Bay Cuba during the missile crisis and I was right in the middle of that. That's where I was stationed on the tugboat," said veteran Zackey Sanders.
"I'm not allowed to tell. I'll take the 5th on that one," said veteran Willie Hartley.
After the ceremony concluded, families visited the graves of their loved ones and friends to pay their tributes.
