Milledgeville's pedestrian bridge to be demolished | News
That's after concrete parts of the bridge fell onto the street last week and caused a hazardous situation for drivers.
The historic overpass used to be a walkway for students to cross between West End Elementary School, Baldwin Middle School and Baldwin High School more than five decades ago.
Jim Leben, district maintenance engineer, says time has worn down the bridge's structure and it needs to be taken down.
Leben says they're now starting the bidding process for contractors, but he could not say exactly when the bridge will be demolished or how much it will cost.
