Hobby Lobby Chain to Open Macon, Milledgeville Stores | News
Craft and home décor chain Hobby Lobby is on track to open two new Central Georgia stores in the coming months, a company official says.
A Milledgeville store is scheduled to open at 1962 N. Columbus St. by the end of October, said Vincent Parker, a company spokesman. That store is just under 60,000 square feet.
Parker said the company is aiming to open a Macon store, currently under construction at 5019 Riverside Drive, by the end of the year. That's near the Shoppes at River Crossing. That store will be about 55,134 square feet.
Right now, the only Hobby Lobby in Central Georgia is located in Warner Robins at 2987 Watson Blvd.
The company operates 550 stores in 44 states, according to Hobby Lobby's website.
"We always hope to hire anywhere from 30 to 50 local employees in various positions," Parker said of the planned Macon and Milledgeville stores.
Those positions include cashiers, stockers, custom picture framers, office managers, floral designers and department heads.
Parker said pay for full-time employees start at $14 an hour and $9.50 for part time.
