Robins Federal Credit Union Gives Over $51K to the American Cancer Society

Warner Robins, GA — Robins Federal Credit Union recently held fundraisers in branches across the mid-state in order to raise funds for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.

Robins Federal Credit Union branches in Baldwin, Bibb, Houston, Jones, Monroe and Peach Counties created teams, raised funds and participated in their county’s Relay for Life events. Over 100 employees participated in the events in their respective counties, and $51,319.02 was raised for the American Cancer Society.

“We are proud to support the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. Our staff really enjoys the three month fundraising drive each year. It allows them to work together, and have fun while doing something great in our community.  We value our partnership with the American Cancer Society, and could not be more pleased with the result of this year’s fundraising drives” says John Rhea, President/CEO.

Fishing Rodeo for Kids

 

Georgia Cancer Support is hosting a fishing rodeo for kids with cancer and their families in Jones County.

That's on May 25 from 9 a.m. until noon.

Professional fishermen will be there to teach kids how to fish. That's at 141 Salem Church Road.

The event is free.

Last year they had over 100 cancer patients there.

She speaks at First Baptist Church in Dublin on May 2 to benefit SAV-A-LIFE Ministry of Dublin.

Pollen Count 'High' in the Macon Area

Some mixed news for allergy sufferers:

While the tree pollen count is still high at 1420, that's down from last Wednesday's 3,600 count, according to Dr. Plaxico's Allergy and Asthma Clinic in Macon.

Weeds and grass pollen count is now in the moderate range. That count is up from last week when the weed pollen was absent and the grass count was observed as low.

Milledgeville Main Street/ Downtown Development Authority and the Farmers’ Market Committee will be having entertainment at least once a month this season. Join us Tuesday, April 9th from 4:00 to 7:00pm to buy from local vendors with local grown and handmade items also enjoy tunes from the band Analog Reunion. The committee is dedicated to improving the market and making it more enjoyable for customers and vendors alike.

Analog Reunion is a Middle GA based band with influences ranging from Rock to R&B. The band performs cover songs such as classic songs from The Allman Brothers, Otis Redding, Jimi Hendrix, and The Beatles. The band also writes originals showing off their artistic side. Analog Reunion offers the area something unique and different as the music appeals to all ages.

Urgent Care Opening in Milledgeville

A new urgent care opens in Milledgeville in April.

Hillcrest Urgent Care has a ribbon cutting on April 3 at 11:30 a.m. according to a release.

They're located at 1909 North Columbia Street in Milledgeville.

The urgent care facility has on site: full service x-ray, eight exam rooms, an observation room to administer IV fluids and medication, and will be equipped with the ability to conduct an EKG and Holter monitor.

They manage common conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, head aches, coughs and colds, flu, lacerations, simple fractures, minor burns, pregnancy test and drug screens. 

They have their grand opening and begin accepting patients on April 8.
