Burger King puts lower-calorie fries in Kid's Meal

Bruce Horovitz, USA TODAY

Burger King is tweaking its Kid's Meals with fries that are less nutritionally naughty.

The burger giant Tuesday announced that its crinkle-cut Satisfries -- with 40% less fat and 30% fewer calories than McDonald's fries -- will immediately become the standard fries served in Burger King Kid's Meals nationally. Although BK charges slightly more for Satisfries with adult meals, it will not charge more for its Kid's Meals.

Georgia Military College partners with Columbus State University

Lieutenant General William B. Caldwell IV, president of Georgia Military College (GMC), joined Dr. Timothy Mescon, president of Columbus State University (CSU), on February 21st to sign an articulation agreement that will allow GMC students to apply their associate degree credits toward CSU baccalaureate degrees.  GMC students will be able to transfer degree credits without losing credit hours, providing a more seamless transition to CSU.

“GMC is a liberal arts-based, two-year college. Although we serve 250 ROTC cadets (at the Milledgeville Campus), the vast majority of our students are typical community college students.  GMC has nine campuses throughout the state and serves about 12,000 students annually, many of whom go on to pursue baccalaureate degrees at four-year colleges and universities,” Lt. Gen. Caldwell noted. “CSU offers significant opportunities for our students to further their education.”

Allied Arts will present the Mandolin Consort of Atlanta (MCA) on Friday, March at 7:30 pm in the Allen’s Market Building, 101 West McIntosh Street in downtown Milledgeville. Ticket are $10.00 each and on sale now at Allied Arts, 201 North Wayne Street. A consort is described as a small group of musicians performing together, typically playing instrumental music with like instruments.

Following in the tradition of mandolin ensembles and orchestras of the early twentieth century, the “Mandolin Consort of Atlanta” (MCA) was founded by a select group of five members of the Atlanta Mandolin Orchestra. Their years of experience performing in North America bring a fresh new spin on music written both for the mandolin and other ensemble music to a new audience. The five members of the Mandolin Consort of Atlanta are Bob Knysz and Nancy King (mandolin), Ed Davis (mandolo), Barbara Knysz (mandocello) and Walter Dean (guitar).
