Milledgeville Main Street Seeks Volunteers for Cleanup Day | Events
Milledgeville, Georgia - Come out and join forces with community leaders and volunteers to clean the streets of downtown Milledgeville at the Milledgeville Main Street Clean-up Day on Sept. 30 from 2 - 5 p.m.
This will be a wonderful neighborhood event for families and community groups to be able to get involved and give back to their local community.
Kendall Stiles, director of The GIVE Center, is excited for the opportunity to make downtown Milledgeville a place of beauty and prestige.
"I think that this is a great event for members of the community to come together and make Milledgeville an even better place by taking care of it," The GIVE Center Kendall Stiles said. "We are the benefactors of this community and it is our responsibility to give back."
The event will consist of cleaning the alleyways and areas behind the downtown buildings. Volunteers will meet at the Milledgeville Main Street office located at 127 E. Hancock Street at 2pm and are encouraged to bring gloves to the event.
Erica Corbitt, Service Partner of Gamma Sigma Sigma, a student volunteer organization at Georgia College and State University believes that students would greatly benefit by volunteering in the downtown Milledgeville community.
"As a college student, this event is a great opportunity to give back to a community that gives so much to us," Corbitt said. "Service is essential to the growth of our community."
Executive Director of Milledgeville Main Street Carlee Schulte believes that the Milledgeville Main Street Clean-up Day will have a lasting impact on the community as a whole.
“Citizens are only asked to donate a few hours of their time to pitch in and help keep downtown Milledgeville beautiful,” Schulte said. “This effort will help to attract visitors and be another driver to support economic development in the area.”
