The view out my 7th floor office window was more bricks, stone, concrete and glass, and yes a bridge and the sky and if I craned my neck...Boston Harbor. What seemed like the same old starlings hung out on the fire escape just outside my window. One day I looked out at the very moment a hawk flew down and grabbed a bird and in a flurry of feet and feathers, off they went, bird and prey. This scene of course happens daily but the urban setting somehow drew a big line for me around 'nature' as opposed to man's constructed city. Oconee Artists Exhibition XXXI, Call For Entries

Allied Arts is currently accepting entries for the thirty-first annual Oconee Artists Exhibition. Entries will be accepted through Friday, April 11. This juried exhibition is open to all adult artists (age 18 and over) who live in central Georgia and practice a visual art form. The six eligible categories are drawing, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture. Artists may enter a maximum of three pieces for an entry fee of $20.00.

Cash awards include Best of Show award of $100.00, Second Place award of $75.00 and Third Place award of $50.00. All artists will be honored and winners announced at an opening reception on Sunday, April 27 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Marlor House, 201 North Wayne Street, Milledgeville. The reception will be hosted by the Milledgeville Civic Woman’s Club and the Friends of Allied Arts. The Oconee Artists Exhibition XXXI will be on display through Friday, May 30.
