A benefit for the Georgia Special Olympics, The Geico 5K Road Race, is set for Saturday, March 3rd. 

The fun starts at 9 a.m.

Healthy Habits Program Gets Local Footing

Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL) received a grant from the United State Department of Agriculture (USDA) to implement a nutrition and physical activity program in Central Georgia, a Bright from the Start news release says.

Through the “Caregivers Promoting Healthy Habits: Implementing Wellness Policies in Child Care Centers in Georgia,” Bright from the Start will provide 38 early care and education centers in 42 middle Georgia counties with assistance in developing and implementing wellness policies that encourage healthy eating and physical activity for children ages zero to five years.

The selected centers will receive up to $3,000 in the form of sub-grants to support wellness activities.

Milledgeville to Host Ga. Museum & Galleries for Conference

The Milledgeville Museum Association is honored to welcome and host the Georgia Association of Museums & Galleries for its annual conference to be held in Milledgeville on January 18-20, a Milledgeville Museum Association news release says.

The conference sessions will take place on the campus of Georgia College, with related events being held at the museums and attractions in Milledgeville and at the Rock Hawk Effigy in Putnam County. 

The theme for this year's conference is "Change Happens: How to Survive and Embrace It!"  The keynote speaker will be Henry "Hank" M. Huckaby, Chancellor of the University System of Georgia. 

The Georgia Association of Museums & Galleries is a statewide organization dedicated to serving a diverse membership in a way that establishes a responsive network, provides a resource base, and promotes professionalism so that Georgia's museum community is strong, effective, and proactive. 

Crooked Pines Farm Offers MLK Jr. Day Camp

Crooked Pines Farm is offering a day camp for children ages 5-12 on the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, January 16.

The day camp will include petting farm, hayride, kid-friendly activities, games and snacks.
