Cleanup Group Tackles Trash, Debris | Community Spirit
Milledgeville, Georgia – On Sunday October 14, 2012, eight community members gathered downtown to give some of the alleys much needed love. The small group of dedicated volunteers met at the Main Street office at 2pm before heading out to start cleaning.
Although the group was small, they were able to get several areas cleaned up and looking much better. The alleyway behind the Masonic Lodge and Auntie Bellums Attic was the first place they tackled along with an alleyway next to City Hall and the area behind the buildings on the east side of South Wayne Street. The group moved trash, old furniture and yard debris from all locations filling a large City truck and three Herby Curby’s.
Main Street would like to thank the volunteers for taking time out of their day to show their community how much they care. Thank you to Justin Jones with JC Grant Co. also the Main Street Board Chair, Victor Bayne owner of Bayne’s Army Store, Danielle Fields owner of Fields Photography and Framing also a Main Street Board Member, Jon-Paul Schulte, Deana Thornton, Brandon- an employee at The Velvet Elvis, and Danielle Ranieri, a concerned citizen.
This event was a great opportunity for people to get involved and give back to our community. Main Street will host more of these events in hopes that more community members, business owners and community leaders will attend.
