'Book it to The Finish' 5K Promotes Childhood Literacy


Submitted by Kendall Stiles(MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.) - The Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy of Baldwin County ishosting their first Book It To The Finish 5K this Saturday.This race is a fundraising event to provide children ranging from birth to five years old with ageappropriate books. The Ferst Foundation provides children with reading material each month,until their fifth birthday.The race will take place Sept. 29 at the North Baldwin County Fire Station, 105 Airport Rd NEMilledgeville, GA 31061.The Tiny Trot, for children under six, will begin at 8 a.m. and the 5K race will begin at 8:30 a.m.Children are encouraged to attend dressed as their favorite storybook character.Cash awards will be given to the overall male and female race champions. Books will be donatedon behalf of the top three male and female finishers in perspective age brackets. Prizes will alsobe presented to winners of the Tiny Trot and costume contest.You can visit www.active.com to register prior to the event. Race day registration will begin at 7a.m. and will cost $25.
