Milledgeville Marketplace Farmers' Market Pavilion Underway | Community Spirit
Milledgeville, GA- Construction of the Milledgeville Marketplace Farmers’ Market Pavilion has begun. This pavilion will serve as the new home for the Farmer’s Market and a space for gatherings and events for the community.
City Council recently approved a contract with Dyer Construction. The pavilion will be a 40’x60’ timber frame building, including a handicap accessible bathroom, lighting, power outlets and fans. Milledgeville Main Street received a Rural Business Enterprise Grant in the amount of $42,000 to construct the Pavilion.
This Pavilion will enhance the environment for farmers to sell their products, beautify a major gateway and provide a safe gathering place for the community to use for picnics, concerts, selling Christmas trees and many other activities for residents.
Main Street Director Carlee Schulte says of the Pavilion, “We are excited about the opportunity that this structure will bring. There are many other options that the City and Main Street are looking into to make the Pavilion a hub of activity which will add to what downtown already offers residents and visitors.”
The current market season is still going on through October but has moved to the parking lot next to the soon-to-be Pavilion area. The Market is open on Tuesdays from 3-6 p.m.
