Dance Honor Society Chapter Chartered at Georgia College | Arts & Culture
Title (Max 100 Characters)
Twenty-two students became the first Georgia College members of Chi Tau Epsilon, an honor society for dance.
The organization was established at Georgia College in February. It is the fifth chapter in the nation.
“I have wanted a dance honorary, and particularly Chi Tau Epsilon since I was president of this organization at University of Southern Mississippi, my undergraduate institution,” said Amelia Pelton, director of dance.
The organization was formed in 1967 at Texas Christian University to promote dance and scholarship.
“Chi Tau members are encouraged to go out into the community and perform, promote dance, teach in the schools, and to volunteer with charity organizations,” said Pelton.
Members must be a dance minor or dance major and have a 3.00 GPA.
“Having a dance honorary will help the Georgia College dance minor program in many ways,” said Pelton. “It will unite and organize the students to not only promote dance at the university, but also in the community."
