Farmers Market to Feature Live Entertainment | Arts & Culture
Live entertainment and market incentives were just a couple of things the Milledgeville Marketplace Farmers’ Market Committee wanted to provide during the 2013 Farmers’ Market season. During each month the committee had planned to have at least one activity for market goers and vendors to enjoy while at the market.
The market opened April 2nd with 10 vendors and more than 400 people visiting the market. Live entertainment was provided by the Blue Grass Strangers to kick things off for the grand opening. Since opening day, the market had the band Analog Reunion preform as the April entertainment. It is the middle of May so it is now time to bring back more entertainment for the vendors and customers to enjoy.
On May 21st Dave and Joey, a First Friday favorite will be performing at the market. Joey will be showing off all the things he has learned from guitar master, Dave Scott. The duo will begin performing at 4pm and stay until 7pm.
The farmers’ market’s new incentive program has been both a hit with the vendors and market goers alike. Customers at the market can get a punch card and receive a punch for every vendor they purchase from, once they have filled up their cards they receive $1 in Market Bucks to spend at any of the vendors and are entered into a drawing to win $25 in Market Bucks, the drawings are held on the first Tuesday of each month, winners do not have to be present to win.
The April Market Bucks winner was Mr. Bob Lewis. Mr. Lewis is a regular at the farmers’ market, he and his grandkids had a great time visiting the vendors during Tuesday’s market spending there Market Bucks.
Come to the market every Tuesday to find better tasting, fresh food grown locally and an array of handmade products 4-7pm. Buy local and support local farmers and artisans. The market is the place you want to be on Tuesdays to meet friends, buy fresh foods and local crafts. We hope to see you there.
